For the line from a poem you keep returning to, to the thought you want to catch before sleep, Wearingeul’s A Dream Within a Dream fountain pen could be the delicate, dreamy fountain pen for you. Preface Series No. 005 takes its name from Edgar Allan Poe’s poem, carrying its shifting, elusive mood into soft pink-violet and blue cellulose acetate.

There is a little bit of gold shimmer in the pen body, echoed by gold-colored trim and a matching gold-colored steel nib. The colors drift through the body rather than forming a fixed pattern, so every pen looks slightly different. Its lavender book-style box includes a literary quotation card, a thoughtful detail for a gift to someone whose bedside table is already stacked with books.

Choose Fine (F) or Medium (M). Each pen comes with one surgical stainless steel nib in your selected size. Fine suits smaller handwriting and close notebook ruling; Medium puts a bit more ink down on the page. At approximately 24g capped and 12g uncapped, this is the lighter original Preface design, with a threaded cap and an included converter for bottled ink.

The matching A Dream Within a Dream ink echoes the pen’s pink, blue, and gold palette. Ink is sold separately, including the bottles shown in the official photographs. For refills, use the supplied converter or Wearingeul’s replacement converters.

Wearingeul gives approximate line widths of 0.28–0.45 mm for Fine and 0.55–0.65 mm for Medium. Actual lines will vary with ink and paper. Color and pattern placement also vary - each pen is unique!
