The Preppy All-Black Edition keeps that practical core and gives it an unusually restrained finish—a glossy black body with just one crisp line of colored lettering.
Here, the logo color and nib size are deliberately paired. Extra Fine has an orange logo and a precise 0.2 mm nib;Fine has a white logo and a versatile 0.3 mm nib; Medium has a yellow logo and a fuller 0.5 mm nib. Extra Fine is the natural choice for small handwriting and less-forgiving paper, while Medium gives ink properties like sheen and shading more room to show themselves.
Platinum's Slip & Seal cap helps keep the nib ready between writing sessions, and makes this pen ideal for pigment and document inks, which can cause problems if they dry out in pens that have less perfect cap seals.
