This is something really special: a traditionally made iron gall nut fountain pen ink, which means it's a waterproof/permanent ink. This is a limited edition from Rohrer & Klingner, made in a single production run in 2023 - when they're gone, they're gone.
It's a brown-black ink, which will continue to darken with time as the chemical reaction between the ink and the paper continues.
Fountain Pen Safety Note: Iron gall inks are acidic! If you have a pen that has a lower-quality steel nib, an ink sac that may not react well to low PH, or a fragile vintage pen body which comes in contact with the ink, then double-check that it's safe to use iron gall inks before filling this into your fountain pen! That said, iron gall inks were the de facto standard when most "vintage" (19th and early-to-mid 20th century) fountain pens were made, so most pens will have been designed for them.
More about iron gall ink:
Iron gall inks were among the first permanent inks that humanity used, and it's not uncommon for documents written with them to survive for hundreds of years - they're often found in works from the middle ages. Basically, iron gall ink will last as long as the paper it's written on. This is because it's an ink that chemically changes (rusts or oxidizes) the paper that it's written on, actually "burning" itself into the paper fibers permanently.
This ink is made in Germany.
