How to choose your Nib Size
You've got a choice between Fine, Medium, and Bent/1mm Nibs. How do you choose?
A Fine nib has the thinnest line. The benefit is that the pen will write better even on cheaper, non-fountain-pen-friendly papers that you're likely to encounter out in the real world. The drawback is that you'll see less of the ink's color and qualities – for wilder inks (shimmer, sheen, shading) that means you'll have a harder time seeing those qualities.
A Medium fountain pen nib is a good all-rounder. It gives you a thicker line that shows off more of the ink's color, but may feather or bleed through cheaper papers, depending on the ink you're using. Not the end of the world, but in severe cases, it can be unsightly.
A Bent Nib (or Fude Nib – in this case, 1mm) is a "just for fun" nib that lets you vary your line width up to a maximum of 1mm, depending on the angle that you hold it at. This can add some variety to your writing, and it's a bit more like using a paint brush than a traditional fountain pen nib. You'll be able to dump ink onto the page and have a great time doing it. Only recommended for fountain-pen friendly papers that can withstand a lot of ink without bleed through or feathering. Think "fun calligraphic art" – it's less well suited to quick note taking at work or school.

So thoughtful and wonderfully put together!
a very nice set even if you have experience with fountain pens or are just getting into them. The jinhao 82 i got has a very smooth nib and i paired it with the vial of octopus fluids caribbean teal i received to match its blue color. I also got j herbin perle noir and rohrer&klingner alt-goldgrün for my other 2 samples. I've been wanting to try alt-goldgrün for a while so i'm happy to get the chance! All in all i'm very happy with my purchase and the seller was even nice enough to include a pilot kakuno as a fountain pen day bonus. Will definitely order from here again!
