Octopus Write & Draw: Petrol Buffalo vs. Petrol Axolotl Fountain Pen Ink

Anyone who has seen my comments on Reddit knows that I'm a die-hard fan of Octopus Fluids' Write & Draw series of pigment (permanent/waterproof) inks. They're perfect for writing, drawing (especially for watercolor, since these inks won't run once they've dried), and anywhere else you need a permanent-yet-well-behaved fountain-pen-friendly ink.

Two of the Write & Draw Petrol colors are really close together: Petrol Buffalo and Petrol Axolotl. That can make it hard to choose between them.

Color Swatches

These two ink swatches were photographed together, so you can accurately see the difference between them:

(The swatch cards are slightly off-white watercolor stock, so your screen isn't playing tricks on you).

As you can see, Petrol Axolotl is a teal that's quite far towards the green end of the spectrum, while Petrol Buffalo is almost blue.

I hope that helps you pick the fountain pen ink that's right for you! Though, to be honest, you just can't really go wrong with these inks.
