Pilot is one of Japan’s most respected pen makers, with a reputation for fountain pens that are smooth, reliable, and engineered with “it just works” consistency. From approachable everyday writers like the Metropolitan and Kakuno to enthusiast favorites like the Custom 74, Custom 823, and Vanishing Point, Pilot covers the full spectrum: student-friendly starters, serious workhorse gold nibs, and innovative designs that feel effortless in the hand.

They’re especially known for exceptionally tuned nibs (often on the finer side, in true Japanese fashion), dependable filling systems, and standout ink performance through lines like Iroshizuku. If you want a fountain pen that starts every time, writes cleanly, and stays in your rotation for years, Pilot is a classic for a reason.
