Where to Buy Vintage Fountain Pens in the US
Share
I love vintage fountain pens. Despite the amazing selection of modern fountain pens available to us, I still think for many people, a well-restored vintage fountain pen is the absolute maximum bang-for-the-buck in terms of writing quality and history/"feel"/ambiance (the kids call it "vibe") that you can get in this hobby.
To that end, I've tried to collect some of the most consistently well-regarded online vintage fountain pen sellers (mostly “restored & ready to write” shops with clear policies). This is a totally US-centric list because I'm in the US.
Note: If you have sellers you've worked with and liked, please get in touch through the contact section of this website to let me know. I'd love for this page to become a true compendium of high-quality vintage fountain pen sellers.
Vintage fountain pen shops in the US
- Peyton Street Pens (US) — Large rotating inventory of restored vintage. (peytonstreetpens.com)
- VintagePens.com / David Nishimura (US) — (vintagepens.com)
- Redeem Pens (US) (https://redeempens.com/)
- Heron's Mooncake restorations and vintage pens (US) — (https://heronsmooncake.com/). I consider Darren one of my "fountain pen friends." I've had him restore old pens that I've collected, as well as bought restored pens directly from him.
- Main Street Pens (US) — Ron Zorn’s restoration shop with a smaller sales list, but very respected among vintage buyers. (mainstreetpens.com)
- The PENguin / ThePenguinPen (US) — Collector-oriented dealer best known for Pelikan/Parker and similar classics; widely recommended in the community. (thepenguinpen.com)

Quick vetting checklist
It pays to be prudent even when buying from a trusted seller, but that's especially true once you leave the higher-reputation shops and go out to individual sellers on ebay, facebook marketplace, etc.).
Here are some tips:
- Look for explicit restoration details (new sac/diaphragm, seals, nib alignment, etc.) and a warranty/return window. (You’ll see this clearly on most of the shops I list here)
- Prefer sellers with lots of close-up photos and condition notes (trim wear, cracks, plating loss).
- If you’re unsure, search the seller name on Fountain Pen Network or Reddit's r/fountainpens to see long-term buyer feedback.
I hope that's useful!
