101 Fun Things to Do With your Fountain Pens? (a list of ideas)

Sometimes it's so easy to get caught up in the fun of acquiring fountain pens that we can lose sight of how satisfying it is to actually use them.

So as much as I'd love for you to buy another fountain pen from Bottle & Plume, take a look at this post the next time you're having trouble getting off the hedonistic treadmill of buying new pens.

Here's a list of the enjoyable ways that you can use your fountain pens (and fountain pen ink):

  1. Write letters.
Writing letters to friends and family is not only a peaceful, enjoyable way to spend your time and experience your fountain pens, it's also something that can bring you closer together with the people you love. It's a unique experience to hold someone in your mind for a few minutes while writing a letter (as opposed to thinking about them for just a second or two while dashing off a text message). And on the receiving end, almost no one gets a real honest-to-goodness letter in the mail anymore, so it's a wonderful surprise that makes just about anyone feel special.
  2. Make (and then send) postcards with your spare ink samples.
I don't have to tell you how much fun it is to order fountain pen ink samples. But they can't all be winners – sooner or later, you'll end up with some samples that you just don't want to use for writing. There's no better way to use those than to drizzle them over some 5x7 card stock, maybe swirl them around with a paint brush, and call it a "postcard." Write a quick message on the other side, seal it in an envelope, and into the mailbox it goes. Endless fun, and think of all the baby turtles you're saving by not wasting your precious fountain pen ink samples!
  3. Self-Improvement Journaling.
You're a grown-up now. It's time to learn how to work through your emotions. There's almost no better tool for this than writing down what you're feeling and then spending some time analyzing it. Sometimes you might not even know what you're feeling. That's okay, too! Write about that. This is a particularly deep well to draw from in your life.

I'll keep adding to this when I have time.
