Who we are
A few years ago, I fell in love with fountain pens and writing by hand. Burned out from a stressful tech job, I was looking for something new — something that could get me in touch with my senses and the present moment (instead of the computer screen I was stuck in, 8 hours a day).
I started by resurrecting an old Lamy Safari I had lying around, and was quickly captivated by the meditative, physical process of writing. I started taking handwritten notes, journaling to dig deeper into ideas, and writing letters to family and friends.
I was shocked by the effect of this new hobby: writing by hand is a deeply calming experience that grounds you in the present moment and connects you with your body. Using fountain pens takes it up a notch and gives you the unique pleasure of using a beautiful, purpose-built tool for that writing.
And using bottled inks in your fountain pens elevates and expands the experience again, giving you access to thousands of incredible inks (and and endless parade of color, shade, shimmer, and sheen) from hundreds of companies and independent makers that care about this hobby as much as you do.
What we do
I sell ink sample mystery boxes, fountain pens, fountain-pen friendly paper, and fountain pen starter kits that I’d wish someone had given me when I was just starting out with this hobby.
I started by selling carefully curated collections of ink samples, and have expanded to selling a more complete selection of the stuff I love — pens, paper, and ink.
My commitment is to really think about what I stock and sell, and narrow the selection down to just the things that I absolutely adore. For example, Bottle & Plume sample packs are:
Larger than those sold by most other fountain pen/ink stores. My samples are 3ml instead of the common 2ml.
Exciting and surprising! I choose high quality, interesting inks that I actually want to write with, and I frequently get inspired by the amazing community at r/fountainpens.
Priced competitively. I’m doing this to share the hobby with others and make great ink accessible to everyone, not to make a quick buck…and I already have a day job.
The same goes for pens, paper, and fountain-pen-related accessories that I sell: I only sell stuff that I personally use and love, and skip the rest.
